"I bought your Ampeg GU12 and it has been great. Got compliments from the soundman at two different gigs about how different it sounded! Thanks."

"Congratulations on making this great idea work for so long. Your writing chops are fine as always, and that skill makes up a large part, very large of your success. It’s a tasty recipe, Keep on cookin’. "

"I’m a long time subscriber and devour every issue. Your writing style is entertaining and informative to the extreme. I recently purchased a David Allen Brown Sugar head kit based on your review, the kit was fun as hell to build and the tone of the amp is just as good as you described in the review. Keep up the great work."

"Been with you since the beginning and TQR has been a consistent warm spot in my life since November 1999. My newest “blame on you” gear indulgence has been Dr. Z Nova! OMG, it just kills and I thank you for turning me on to it."
David Witte, Albuquerque, NM

"Based on your recommendation, years ago I put Jim Rolph ’58 pickups in my Les Paul reissue (2009). Perfect choice. Love your magazine. I’m a long time subscriber."

"Thanks again for TQR, which I have enjoyed from the very first issue to the present. Dave Bose told me about this new, ad-free magazine that was about to start up, I subscribed immediately. More times than I can remember I've gotten great leads on equipment from you, and my tone has benefitted immensely."

"Thank you for putting together some of the most informative and useful information a guitarist could possibly need. I have been a subscriber since day one and have learned more about "TONE" this past year than I have in the previous 20 years of playing guitar daily. Really... I'm a huge fan! Sincere thanks."

"I just read the Ampeg issue from last year and wanted to say what a great read it was! I’ve been interested in Ampeg amps since your other issue from many years back. In fact, I was moved to buy an early local (Linden, NY) GU-12 some years ago as a result. Thanks a lot."

"Just wanted to thank you for the article on the Bonamassa Firebird… Bought a gold one (Ebay), right after your article and can’t put it down. Very little set-up, plays great. Thanks again."

"Here’s my renewal for 2 more years of TQR. I look forward to reading it each month and try to restrain myself for reading it all at once. Just in the two short years I’ve been subscribing, TQR has led me to purchase a Butler Tube Driver and a Pro Junior. I enjoyed the Ampeg appreciation too!"

"I’ve been with you since Day 1! Keep up the amazing work. Cheers."

"One of the things I most enjoy about TQR is that you often prompt me to go back and re-examine some arcane item from my vast collection of stuff I’ve acquired over the olden days, back before “vintage” became “expensive.” Love playing my TQR-ized, Callaham-ized, Japanese ‘60s Strat reissue with CS ’69 pickups."
Paul Simpson, Haverford, PA

"I love finding my ToneQuest in the mailbox! I have to say you’re partially responsible for me spending countless thousands of dollars over the years… but it’s all good!"

"Because of our move, we have been getting mail in bulk and don’t pick it up every day. My wife, Linda walks in the door with her arms full of mail, sets it down and in a split second I located the TQR in the pile, pulled it out and took off. Linda laughed and asked, “How the hell did you spot the TQR so quickly?” I just said, “It was calling me.” Great publication but it has only one problem… too short! Thanks and keep it up!"

"Birthday gift. When ToneQuest arrives, Gary exclaims like Steve Martin in “The Jerk”, “The ToneQuest is here… the new ToneQuest is here!!!” Literally… thank you."

"I was a recipient of a gift subscription to The TQR by a fellow bandmate and subscriber to The ToneQuest. Absolutely loving the information and level of detail in The TQR. Thank you for your time and fabulous info."

"I’ve been a subscriber now for several years. I’ve also subscribed to other guitar publications and I’ve let all those other subscriptions go away but I love me some ToneQuest Report. I snatch each one out of the mail pile and disappear for at least an hour while I pour over it, cover to cover. I save ‘em all and then in between new issues I’ll grab an old issue and lose myself in it all over again! You give such great content‒ no BS, no kowtowing to manufacturers, just great stories about rolling the dice and buying guitars‒ both dogs and gems‒ and messing with them to make them better. You remind us that we don’t need to be rich to buy great gear‒ we just need to be willing to take some chances and put some work into the gear that deserves better. Through it all you never try to fool us into believing that any piece of gear is a substitute for hard work and practice but you always stroke the “gear dork” in me, getting into the minutiae of what kind of saddles work better on a particular guitar or which caps make a difference in which amps. I love that stuff! Hell, we all do, or we wouldn’t be reading this right now, would we? Anyway, I don’t know how you, Dave, convinced Liz that this was the kind of whackadoodle stuff you both should work on all the live long day, but bless you both for providing what I’m sure we can all agree is an “essential service”. Please keep the gold coming, I know I speak for a lot of other nut jobs when I say we can’t get ‘em fast enough. Love you guys and quest forth!"
